Respond to the escape prompts before the vehicle scene
The THRESHOLD car chase sequence is not free driving. Episode 1 leads you through a cinematic escape with circle inputs and a slide prompt before Danny’s vehicle introduces window defense. Watch the action currently requested instead of searching for a steering control.
This guide focuses on the escape inputs and the handoff into the car. If you are already watching the vehicle windows, use the window defense guide for that separate task.
Recognize the change from searching to reacting
Before this escape, the Story has you collect paper fragments and piece them together. Once the assembly is finished and the objective changes, follow the route or waypoint onward. Do not keep checking rooms for papers while the episode is moving into action.
Keep your eyes on the input prompt during the cinematic. Watching the entity or background can make you miss the next action.
| Scene state | Your priority |
|---|---|
| Paper search remains active | Complete the missing collection or assembly step |
| Route or waypoint appears | Move toward the next Story event |
| Circles appear during escape | Click the displayed targets |
| Slide instruction appears | Perform the shown slide action |
| Danny asks you to watch windows | Switch to scanning and directional arrow responses |
Use the table to identify your current task, then follow the prompt displayed in your game.
Click the circles deliberately
When circle targets appear, focus on the visible targets and complete the requested clicks. After each input, look for the next target or change in the task. The action can continue quickly, so do not wait for a long pause before refocusing.
Find the prompt, perform the action, then look for the next one. Avoid staring at the background after a successful click; that is when the next input becomes easy to miss.
If an input is missed, notice which type of response caused the problem. Was your attention on the entity, did you click away from the target, or did you stop watching after one success? On the next attempt, correct that specific habit instead of memorizing an entire video’s dramatic camera motion.
The controls guide distinguishes clicks, drags and holds across the game. Here, the circle task is the relevant one.
Follow the slide instruction shown in your run
The escape also includes a slide prompt. Read its displayed action and use the binding shown for your device. Do not assume a guessed universal keyboard button or copy an input from a different platform.
Switch attention when the slide instruction appears. Continuing to click where a circle used to be is not the next action. Conversely, preparing for a slide too early can distract you from circles still on screen.
Respond to each prompt as it appears. An input that worked for the previous target may not be the action you need next.
Reset when Danny’s vehicle begins
Reaching the car introduces another attention task. Danny asks you to watch every window and tell him where the entity is. On PC, click and drag the directional arrow as the scene requires.
Start scanning the windows as soon as this task begins. After a directional response, return to scanning instead of treating one correct arrow as the entire defense.
After the vehicle scene, you reach the shop and have a chance to recover. When you reach that break, check supplies and complete the sanity-restoration instruction instead of carrying the reaction routine into a shopping task.

FAQ
Do I drive a car during this sequence?
Concentrate on the displayed Story actions. The covered escape uses circles and a slide prompt, then Danny’s vehicle introduces window defense.
What should I do when circles appear?
Click the displayed targets and keep watching for the next prompt. Do not let the background action pull attention away from the input.
Which button performs the slide?
Use the binding shown by the current slide prompt on your device. Do not assume one PC or controller input works everywhere.
What changes when I reach Danny’s vehicle?
The task becomes watching windows and responding to directional arrows. Switch from the earlier escape inputs to that defense routine.
